Parent First Aid

Sue, our Operations Director, held on Saturday a Parent’s first aid course. It was a great informatic morning learning all the basics of Paediatrics First Aid. Areas of focus included chocking, CPR, the recovery position and how to use a defibrillator.

We plan to run another session in the Summer so if you’d like to be added to the waiting list, please let us know at

Tackling Food Waste!

Have you heard about the Too Good to Go App? The app lets you rescue unsold food from some of your local favourite shops and restaurants to prevent it from being prematurely thrown away.

Food from shops like Starbucks, Toby Carvery, Pret, The Co-operative and so many more!

How does the app work? You can navigate the app easily, find some perfectly good food that would potentially be thrown away at the end of the day, reserve your meal and secure a collection time and collect your food!

A third of food is currently wasted so this is a great and fun way to help bring this number down. Find out more about the food waste movement and how to download the app here.

Help to keep children safe by “Listen up, speak up!”

NSPCC are encouraging every adult in the UK to take part in their 10 minutes digital training called “Listen up, speak up”.

Listen up and learn a little with Connect the DOTS training, they will show you where to go if you need support, and how to speak up for children who need it. Because that little bit of knowledge can help keep a lot of children safe.

Help paying for your childcare

We have found a really useful website that helps explain how the government can help with childcare costs for parents.

The different support that the government offer are:

  • Tax Free Childcare – children ages 0 – 11
  • 15 hours free childcare – children aged 2 or children aged 3 and 4
  • 30 hours of free childcare or early education for 38 weeks – children aged 3 and 4
  • Tax credits for childcare – children ages 0 to 15
  • Universal Credit – children under 17

Different criteria applies for each of these support options, these can be found in the link below. On the website you have the ability to apply online or you can phone them to speak to someone who can provide further support.
