Chinese New Year

The children got up to lots for Chinese New Year! At our Mont Le Grand nursery, we taste tested of lots of Chinese food which we ate with chopsticks. We also did some dressing up in some traditional Chinese outfits.

At Manston Terrace, we also did some dressing up, but we also made masks of the different zodiac animals, such as the ox, the rat, and the rabbit. We made Chinese dragons out of paper as well which was fun but difficult to fold the paper correctly!

Puffins in the City had a lot of fun at Chinese New Year! We did a bean scattering, which is a tradition to scare away all of the bad things. One of the practitioners dressed up as an ogre and the children were throwing conkers at the ogres’ feet, scaring away all the negativity and welcoming in positivity. We also read “Zodiac Stories” and learnt all about the different animals that go with the Chinese new year. Finally, we made some traditional Chinese lanterns!

At Sowton, we got very creative! We painted the windows of the nursery red and gold and painted the symbol of the ox! We also made cards with he symbol on it and gave these out to people! And of course, we had a delicious Chinese feast where we tried lots of new and exciting foods!

Our Clystheath nursery did some investigating, finding out family members animal zodiacs based on the year they were born in! We talked about the different animals that are for the zodiacs and also did some dressing up in traditional Chinese clothing!

Random Act of Kindness Day

Everyone at Puffins got involved in Random Act of Kindness day. Clystheath pre-school made cards for each other within the nursery, with kind things about each other in it.

Sowton Bumblebee room made little bumblebees with messages on them. These were given to each other and also to members of staff and parents.

Southernhay made an effort to complement each other, because sometimes even just a little compliment can make somebody’s day 10 times better!

Manston Terrace gave out a flower to each parent that came to pick up or drop off. Finally Mont Le Grand created cards for the parents and also for Gillian and Gemma, the two directors of our company!
